
The Campbell Outdoor Challenge announced today the signing of a contract with Fox Sports Midwest to air their team vidoeing competitions on Sunday afternoons at 12 PM CST, beginning January 6th and continuing through June 29th 2008. The Campbell Outdoor Challenge sporting event format highlights the woodsmanship skills and abilities of hunter and cameraman teams as they compete in "The Sport of Filming Hunts". Additional daytime airings of the Campbell show will rotate around FSN Midwest's regular sports schedule.
"We're very pleased to be returning to the network where we first aired back in 2004," exclaimed John Campbell, host of the Campbell Outdoor Challenge. "To have the noon time slot on Sunday is a great compliment for us from the people in the programming department at FSN Midwest," Campbell continued. "Come springtime, our noon time slot will be a lead-in to Cardinal baseball coverage," he concluded.
Fox Sports Midwest covers more than six million homes in the nations heartland thru local cable providers, Dish channel 419 and Direct TV channel 647. Campbell also announced that fans can tune in to a special airing of the Campbell Outdoor Challenge Television Show at 9:30 AM CST, Mon. Dec.24, on The Outdoor Channel, Dish channel 153, Direct TV channel 606, and various local cable channels.
The Campbell Outdoor Challenge features teams, each team consisting of a hunter and a cameraman, matching their skills in videoing hunts for various wild free ranging game animals. Videoing points are based upon a copyrighted scoring system and awarded based on acquired video increments of footage, hunt audio, video stability and overall quality.
The Campbell videoing competitions are open to anyone of any age or experience level. Plans for 2008 include a videoing circuit competition with the winning team determined by a cumulative point score from the four events that form the circuit. Those events include teams filming wild turkey hunts in Indiana, April 22-25; wild hogs in Georgia, May 16-20; antelope in South Dakota, Sept. 8-12 and whitetail hunts in Illinois, Nov.4-10. This special airing of the Campbell Outdoor Challenge on The Outdoor Channel will have highlights from the past 4 years and will give new viewers a bit of history on the “Sport of Filming Hunts”. The airing will also show how the challenge works and how teams can get involved.
