Sixteen teams of outdoor videoing enthusiasts representing 12 States matched their skills in filming archery whitetail hunts 10-28 thru 11-2 in the 2006 Apple Creek Outfitters Whitetail Challenge. The event, hosted thru the Southeastern Illinois based facilities of Campbell Illinois Whitetails, features team competitions in the “Sport of Filming Hunts” and is televised nationally on the Men’s Outdoor Channel and regionally on various Fox Sports Networks.

The videoing Challenge which featured over $20,000.00 in prizes, ended in a first place tie between the Arkansas Dream Team of Jay Barczak and Bob Wyble and the Illinois based Pine Ridge Archery Team of Jim Broberg and Brian Bychowski, both with 600 points. Team Boyer, of  brothers Travis and Kevin Boyer, IL finished third with 480 points.

“This is our highest placing finish ever!” exclaimed Wyble. “We’ve worked hard to refine our videoing skills and after a poor finish in the Bowfishing Challenge in June we knew we needed a big comeback and we got it,” he added. “This moves us into second place in the 2006 Campbell Outdoor Challenge Circuit with one event remaining,” added partner Barczak “Because of this finish we have a good shot at the Championship.”

“We thought the whole event was awesome with all the videoing teams putting up some steep competition!” exclaimed Bychowski. “With so many hunters videoing their hunts and outdoor adventures now, this filming Challenge is a great way for us (Pine Ridge Archery) to put the outdoor videoing products we make to good use.”

The Campbell Outdoor Challenge features teams, each team consisting of a hunter and a cameraman, matching their skills in videoing hunts for various wild free ranging game animals. Videoing points are based upon a copyrighted scoring system and awarded based on acquired video increments of footage, hunt audio, video stability and overall quality.

Team Southern Xtreme of Mike Mock and Pat Hunt, GA finished in fourth place with 420 points and Team M2D CAMO of Kenneth Peacock, MS and Tony Nelson, IL finished fifth.

"Most of the viewers of wildlife hunting shows and videos have no idea how much of a challenge (hence the name of the competition) it is to successfully film a hunt for free-ranging animals in the wild," stated John Campbell, host of the Campbell Outdoor Challenge TV Show. "This competition highlights the skills of the cameramen who help bring the 'outdoors' indoors to millions of viewers."
