Teams from various states used their talent in an attempt to qualify for the 2006 archery whitetail championship challenge as they matched their videoing skills in a whitetail archery hunt for the Campbell Outdoor Challenge Television Show. Eleven teams competed at the outfitting facilities of Campbell Illinois Whitetails in Southern Illinois. First place went to Arkansas residents Daryl McCall and Jeremy McCrary of Team Scent Killer. The top four finishers advanced on to the 2006 championship round of the Campbell Outdoor Challenge.
Teams can become a part of the championship challenges by accomplishing any of the following three tasks: First, the top finishing teams from a previous championship round may qualify back in. The second way is to compete in one of the several qualifying challenges that are offered on the Campbell Outdoor Challenge. Finally, challenge members can qualify into a championship round by filming a hunt in their own area and submitting that unedited tape for scoring.
The Campbell Outdoor Challenge is a nationally broadcasted reality television series featuring the sport of filming hunts. Teams are awarded points based upon required footage and the maturity of the animal filmed during the hunt. By either placing in various qualifying rounds or by submitting their own filmed hunts to the Campbell Outdoor Challenge these teams can advance into championship rounds. The Sport of Filming Hunts is one of the future as the idea of carrying a video camera into the woods is spreading throughout the hunting world. Hunters are getting hooked on this fad and the craving “The Sport of Filming Hunts.”
