Press Release
Team Fieldline, consisting of Illinois natives Mike Roux and Grayling Acres have captured the 2004 championship round of the Campbell Turkey Circuit recently completed in Illinois. The Campbell Turkey Circuit features hunter and cameraman teams matching their skills in filming hunts for wild turkeys.
Roux, an outdoor writer and veteran cameraman, Akers with 146 points won easily over the second place Wabash County Bow hunter’s team of hunter Jeremy Newkirk, IL and cameraman Josh Mounts, IL with 104 points. The Fieldline Team sealed their win by maxing out their filming points on a 24.5 lb. turkey with a 10 7/8 inch beard and 1 3/8 inch spurs. “This is a great win for team Fieldline!” exclaimed Roux. “What a magnificent bird. To take a turkey of that size and successfully film the hunt to capture the Championship is almost unreal.”
The 2004 turkey Championship was organized through the outfitting facilities of Campbell Illinois Whitetails and sanctioned by the Campbell Outdoor Challenge Circuits. The hunter for each team receives a score based upon the size of the turkey taken and the team’s cameraman receives a score based upon submitted hunt film footage. A combination of hunter score and cameraman score forms the team score.
The Woodhaven Calls sponsored team of Dan McNeil, IN and Brooks York, IL finished third. Fourth place went to the Leighton Turkey Calls team from North Carolina featuring Robby Leighton and former Cleveland Indians pitcher Donnie Suttles. “Team Buckey” the duo of Kevin Burleson, NY and Joe Sanderson PA finished fifth.
Complete action from the Campbell Turkey Circuit Championship Round and various Qualifying rounds will air on the “Campbell Outdoor Challenge” television show airing on the Men’s Channel and Fox Sports Networks and the Sportsman Channel.
